December 6 , 2007

It’s hard to believe it, but the 2007 season has come to an end. We came up short of our goal to make the state playoffs this season. I hope this is the last time I have to apologize for not making it to the playoffs. I’m really proud of the way our players worked hard during the year, for a team to only have 5 seniors I really believe we accomplished a lot. It is going to be hard to replace 4 four year letterman and a 3 year letterman. I keep telling our players we need to build tradition and I think we are going in the right direction and our seniors can be credited for keeping us on track.

One of my goals for this program is to get these kids to become one. We keep preaching “we” instead of “me” and when these guys commit to this program, this school and this community will become that family that depends on each other during the tough times in the weight room, practice field, the classroom and the games.  I believe that family is synonymous with a deep, unwavering commitment to support one another, no matter how rough it may get. You do things for family that you wouldn’t do for anyone else – and you make allowances for family members that you might not make for anyone else.

To the class of 2008, you will always be apart of this family. We have grown together and I will always remember the dinners on Thursday nights before each game, I hope you guys enjoyed it as much as I did and I hope that we can continue the tradition.

I would like to thank my coaches for the hours and hard work you have put into this program and your families for the time it took away from them. I would also like to thank the End Zone Club and the Mom’s Club for all the work and time that was committed to make this program better; I truly believe that we are a better football program now than we were this time last year. I would like to thank the moms that decorated the locker room before each game with a new theme.  I know the players loved all the candy and food; I also know that the money for all these decorations and food came out of your pockets.  Maybe next year we can raise a little money for the Mom’s Club. I really want you all to know how much I appreciate the Tuesday night meetings, the Thursday night decorating, helping serve the players on Friday afternoons and, not to mention, the hospitality room on Friday nights. This was a great example of starting tradition here at AHS and I hope it continues long after the last whistle blows.

Finally I want to thank everyone who donated their time, their money, and for their help in rallying the community behind our program; we need all the support that we can get to help make this program better than we found it. Everyone needs to understand that this is about our community, our schools, and our children and we need to all take a hand in making these guys time as a Cardinal a great one. Thanks again to everyone that had a part in helping us make Adamsville Football better and help bringing a community closer together.

Go Cardinals!!

Sincerely,
Brandon Gray
